fintechdatabase.eu is an independent directory of European fintech companies. It exists because there was no single, reliable place to look up European fintechs with consistent, well-researched, up-to-date information. Most directories are too US-centric, too focused on funding rounds, or too thin on actual company detail to be useful as a reference.
This is the attempt to fix that — one company profile at a time.
fintechdatabase.eu is built and maintained by an independent researcher and fintech enthusiast based in the Netherlands. It is not backed by investors, not funded by the companies listed, and not affiliated with any financial institution. It is an independent project run out of genuine interest in the European fintech ecosystem.
The database currently covers 421 European fintech companies across 18 categories and 28 countries — from payments and digital banking to KYC, lending, open banking, crypto, wealth management, and more.
Each company profile includes a description, categories and services, quick facts (founding year, founders, employee count, business model), a screenshot of the company's website, and where available, links to relevant videos and additional information.
Any company that operates as a fintech in Europe and meets basic criteria — active, legitimate, with real European operations — can be listed. We cover companies of all sizes, from early-stage startups to publicly listed enterprises.
You can request a listing via our listing request form. We review all submissions and aim to respond within a few days.
Company profiles are researched and written by hand, with AI assistance for initial drafting and manual factchecking against primary sources. We actively work to keep profiles accurate and up to date.
If you spot an error in a company profile — wrong founding year, outdated employee count, incorrect description — please let us know via the contact page or email hello@fintechdatabase.eu. We take accuracy seriously and correct errors promptly.
