We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data fintechdatabase.eu collects, why we collect it, and how we handle it — in plain language, not legalese.

Who we are

fintechdatabase.eu is an independent European fintech directory operated by an individual researcher based in the Netherlands. You can contact us at hello@fintechdatabase.eu for any privacy-related questions.

What data we collect and why

Newsletter subscriptions
When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your name and email address. We use this to send you the weekly fintechdatabase.eu digest. We never share your details with third parties. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.

Listing requests
When you submit a listing request via /request-listing, we collect your name, email address, the company name and URL, and any optional note you provide. We use this information solely to review and process your request. We may email you to follow up on your submission.

Comments
When you leave a comment on a company profile or article, we collect your name and email address alongside your comment. Your email address is never published. Your name appears alongside your comment if it is approved. Comments are stored indefinitely unless you request deletion.

Analytics
We use Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics to understand how visitors use the site — which pages are visited, how long people spend on them, and where traffic comes from. This data is aggregated and anonymised. Google Analytics uses cookies. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Cloudflare Turnstile
We use Cloudflare Turnstile on our comment and listing request forms to prevent spam. Turnstile may collect limited browser and device information to verify that form submissions are from humans. No personal data is stored by Turnstile beyond this verification purpose.

Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

We process your data on the following legal bases:

• Consent — newsletter subscriptions (you opted in)
• Legitimate interests — analytics to improve the site, spam prevention via Turnstile
• Contract performance — processing listing requests and comments you have submitted

Third parties we work with

• Supabase — our database provider, stores all user-submitted data. Data is stored on servers in the European Union.
• Vercel — our hosting provider, handles all web requests and analytics.
• Google Analytics — website analytics. Google may process data outside the EU under their standard contractual clauses.
• Cloudflare — provides Turnstile spam protection.
• Resend — used to send transactional and newsletter emails.

How long we keep your data

• Newsletter subscriber data: until you unsubscribe
• Listing request data: up to 12 months after processing
• Comments: indefinitely unless deletion is requested
• Analytics data: as per Google Analytics and Vercel retention settings (default 14 months for Google)

Your rights under GDPR

If you are based in the European Union or UK, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your data (the right to be forgotten)
• Object to processing
• Withdraw consent at any time (for newsletter)
• Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority

Cookies

We use the following cookies:

• Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _gid) — track site usage, expire after 2 years and 24 hours respectively
• Session cookies — used for admin authentication only, expire when you close the browser

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use the site.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
